Word of the Year

As 2017 winds down, I’ve been thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. Several people have already asked me what mine will be for 2018. But, nothing really jumped out at me. Yes, I need to eat better, exercise more, lose weight, take my vitamins, but each year those resolutions seem to focus on the bad and not the good. They’re a goal that if you don’t achieve your left feeling defeated.

So, this year I’m changing my focus. Several years ago I stumbled upon the website http://myoneword.org. I read through the website, but I never chose a word and soon forgot about it. But, God has a way of bringing things back to the surface and I stumbled across a blog Earl Grey and Yellow where Tracy talks about choosing One Word. So, it got me thinking-what if I chose one word? What if I shifted my focus?

This year has been full of ups and downs. 2017 is ending with us still on the infertility rollercoaster. So, I’ve chosen Hope as my first One Word.

Hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. But, also as a feeling of trust. So, what better word to begin 2018 with than hope?

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope” -Psalm 130:5

As I move into 2018, I will be hoping in the Lord with expectation and trust. I know He holds my future and I can have hope that my blessings will be fulfilled.
